Thirty minutes north of Santa Barbara, the Santa Ynez Valley unfolds into a landscape of rolling hills, vineyards, and oak-studded ranches. The valley — encompassing Los Olivos, Solvang, Ballard, Santa Ynez, and the appellations of Sta. Rita Hills and Happy Canyon — has become one of California's premier wine regions and an increasingly coveted destination for luxury residential estates.

Designing in the valley means designing for land. Properties here are measured in tens of acres, with vineyards, orchards, equestrian facilities, and event spaces as common as guest houses. The architecture ranges from historic Danish-influenced Solvang to contemporary ranch compounds, and the interior design must bridge agricultural authenticity with residential comfort.

Wine culture shapes every project. Our valley clients are vintners, collectors, or both. Wine cellars and tasting rooms are not amenities — they are primary program elements, designed with the same care as the living room. We coordinate cellar climate control (WhisperKool, CellarPro), custom millwork, display lighting, and tasting room furnishing as integrated parts of the residential design.

The material palette draws from the landscape: reclaimed French oak from barn conversions, local sandstone, hand-painted tile from Tabarka Studio, and custom ironwork. Colors reference the vineyard — the dusty green of the vines, the warm gold of summer hills, the dark earth after rain.

Design Character: Santa Ynez Valley

Estate + Hospitality

Properties that serve as both home and tasting venue. We design unified experiences from primary suite to barrel room.

Agricultural Authenticity

Working ranches and vineyards demand design that respects function. Barn-inspired structures, durable materials, and honest construction.

Wine Room as Centerpiece

Custom cellars with climate control, tasting rooms with hand-selected furnishing, and serving kitchens designed for harvest dinners.
